ANALYTICAL STUDY ON WIDE-SPREAD OF LEIOMYOMAS AMONG PATIENTS USING ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE: A RESEARCH ARTICLE

ABSTRACT
Uterine fibroids are one of the most common, benign neoplasms affecting the women of reproductive age group as fibroids are estrogen dependent. The most popular classification of these Tumors is according to their location. The symptoms and treatment options are affected by their size, number and location of the fibroids. Uterine fibroids develop in 25–40% of women of childbearing age; however, there are discrepancies resulting from population and socio-economic differences. The pathogenesis of fibroids is not clear. The aim of the study was to assess the potential connection between the use of oral contraceptives and the occurrence of uterine fibroids in women of childbearing age. Objectives: (1) The study was conducted to assess the potential connection between the use of various oral contraceptives and the occurrence of uterine fibroids in women of child bearing age group. (2) To provide enough background information on fibromyomas causes due to prolong and continuous use of oral contraceptive pills for a period of more than 2-5 years and to study its risk factors. (3) To educate the patients about complications on use of OCP'S leading to development of leiomyomas. (4) This cross- sectional study have been carried out in patients who has been booked and diagnosed with fibroids in the Department of Govt. Nizamia Tibbi college and Hospital, Charminar Hyderabad.
