ABSTRACT
Panchakarma and Shatkarma, which are parts of Ayurveda and Yoga respectively, help to purify the body and mind by balancing the doshas (humors) in the body. The purpose of both is to establish balance among the three doshas through purification. Panchakarma is a traditional Ayurvedic Shodhan (detox) procedure that aims to restore body, mind, and spirit balance. It involves five main therapeutic actions, including Vaman (therapeutic emesis), Virechan (purgation), Basti (enema), Nasya (Intranasal instillation), and Raktmokshan (bloodletting). In Contrary Shatkarma is the six yogic purification techniques (kriyas) as outlined in the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika.". They are said to remove toxins and anything blocking the flow of prana in the body. It includes Neti (nasal cleansing), Dhauti (digestive tract cleansing), Nauli (abdominal massage), Basti (colon cleansing), Kapalabhati (frontal brain cleansing), and Trataka (concentration on a single point) This research paper offers a comparative analysis of Panchakarma and Shatkarma, grounded in fundamental principles, factual information, and research findings. The objective is to enhance the understanding of these concepts for researchers and the general public, providing familiarity with the underlying principles.
