ABSTRACT
Clinically, the Purvarupas of Prameha, as reported in Ayurvedic samhitas, can be helpful in determining the early stages of type 2 diabetes. This article's goal is to emphasize how crucial Purvarupa of Prameha is for identifying prediabetes. Therefore, it is imperative that pre-diabetes be screened for and diagnosed early. Raising public awareness and promoting understanding about this condition will also help to lower the likelihood that pre-diabetes will progress to diabetes mellitus. Under the banner of Nidan Panchaka (Fivefold of investigation), i.e., Nidan (Etiological factors), Poorvarupa (Prodromal aspects), Rupa (Specific sign and symptoms), Upasaya (Relieving factors), and Samprapti (Pathogenesis), systematic diagnosis of disease is effectively discussed. Poorvarupa, or prodromal characteristics, are among the Nidan Panchaka indicators that portend impending illness. The long-term consequences include amputation, Charcot joints, nephropathy that may result in renal failure, progressive development of retinopathy with potential blindness, neuropathy with a risk of foot ulcers, and symptoms of autonomic dysfunction, including sexual dysfunction. Diabetes increases a person's risk of peripheral vascular, cerebral, and cardiovascular illness.
Keywords: Prameha, Poorvarupa.
