A REVIEW ARTICLE ON MEDODUSHTI (DYSLIPIDEMIA)

ABSTRACT
Dyslipidemia refers to a collection of disorders related to lipoprotein metabolism, characterized by either an excess
or a deficiency of lipoproteins, or both. It is considered a primary risk factor for atherosclerotic conditions,
particularly coronary heart disease. Dyslipidemia may involve high levels of LDL cholesterol, elevated
triglycerides, or both, and/or low levels of HDL (the protective) cholesterol. This condition results in abnormal
lipid levels in the body. Due to its clinical manifestations, it can be correlated with Medodushti. Medodushti is mainly
imbalance of Agni because of various etiological factors, etiological factor may be Aaharatmaka(Dietary),
Viharatmaka(Lifestyle), Mansika(Psychic) and Bijswabhava(Hereditary).
