ABSTRACT
Encyclopaedically, cardiovascular conditions (CVDs) constitute the leading cause of death and disability. While nonpharmacological measures, primarily life variations, are the foundation of the original remedial approach to ameliorate the primary cardiovascular (CV) threat factors, adherence to recommendations regarding nutrients and/ or bioactive composites of factory or microbial origin with potentially healthy goods has come wide. Unfortunately, because there have not been enough well- controlled intervention trials conducted on any of the nutraceuticals, at least, the scientific substantiation about the implicit advantages of using them remains equivocal. The scientific data from controlled intervention studies regarding the impact of some nutraceuticals on the primary cardiovascular threat factors — body weight, blood pressure, blood glucose — similar as fibre, phytosterols, soy products, red incentive rice, polyphenols, and berberine.[1]
Keywords: CVDs, nutraceuticals, hypertension, atherosclerosis.
