ABSTRACT

Oncology is defined as a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.[1] It
involves the study of tumors, their development, effects on body, as well as the various treatment modalities such
as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, and immunotherapy. Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled growth
and spread of abnormal cells in body.[2] Tumor an abnormal mass of cells that occur in any part of the body, which
can be benign or malignant. Metastasis is the process where abnormal cells invade and destroy surrounding tissue,
and potentially spread to other parts of the body.[3]
