Abstract

A REVIEW ON PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL PROFILING OF PARTS OF PSIDIUM GUAJAVA

ABSTRACT

Psidium guajava (guava) is a tropical plant known for its rich phytochemicals, including alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins, which contribute to its medicinal properties. Various parts of the plant are used in traditional medicine to treat ailments like infections, diabetes and skin conditions. Guava shows strong antioxidant, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antidiarrheal and antibacterial effects. This review examines the phytochemical composition and therapeutic potential of guava, highlighting its efficacy and areas for further research on its bioactive compounds.
