ABSTRACT
Advancements in nanotechnology have revolutionized drug delivery s
ystems by offering customized solutions.
These innovative systems address previously unaddressed challenges in contemporary medicine. Nanosponges,
which range from 250 nm to 1 μm, have cavities that can accommodate a variety of hydrophobic and hydrophilic
medications. They help mitigate issues related to drug toxicity and poor absorption. These solid porous particles
can encapsulate drug s and other active substances within their nanocavities and can be administered orally,
topically, parenterally, or through inhalation. Nanosponges are synthesized by crosslinking cyclodextrin with
carbonyl or dicarboxylate compounds. Their solubility in a queous environments enhances their utility for poorly
soluble drugs. Additionally, nanosponges can act as carriers for enzymes, proteins, vaccines, and antibodies,
showcasing their versatility in drug delivery systems.
