AYURVEDA REVIEW ON SNEHA KALPANA AND THEIR CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda employs natural resources in order to fulfill objectives of Swasthya Rakshanam and Vyadhi Prashamanam. It lays strong emphasis on an all-around understanding of medicinal preparations, divided into Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, which comprises several preparations like Ghruta Paka, Vati, Taila Paka, Asava, Arishta and Lepa. Sneha Kalpana is a specialized form Ayurvedic formulation which is categorizes under the heading of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. Sneha Kalpana consisted of Taila and Ghruta. These preparations, formulated through Sneha Paka processes, given through Pana, Abhyanga, Nasya and Basti. Medicated oils have increased potency and longer storage life compared to crude oils, with lipid-based drug delivery systems enhancing bioavailability. The availability of low molecular weight fatty acids increases absorption and Sneha Kalpana is thus become an essential ingredient in Ayurvedic therapeutics. This article explores Ayurvedic aspects on Sneha Kalpana and their clinical significance.
