SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW 1,2,4-TRIAZOLES DERIVED FROM CYCLOHEX-2- ENONE HYDRAZIDE AS POTENTIAL ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTITUMOR AGENTS

ABSTRACT
6-(1,2,4-triazol-3-thioxo-5-yl)-3,5-diaryl cyclohex-2-enone (4) was obtained from the reaction of cyclohexenone
acid hydrazide (2) with phenyl isothiocyanate. 2-substituted oxadiazole derivatives (9), (12) have been synthesized.
The treatment of (8) with carbonyl compounds was investigated. The propionitrile derivative (5) was synthesised.
The antimicrobial activity of (6, 9, 10 and 12) against fungi, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria was
screened and the results were encouraging. The antitumor activity of against human cell lines was investigated. The
structures of compounds (4-13) were elucidated by means of microanalysis as well as spectral measurements such
as IR, 1H-, 13C-NMR and MS.
