A CASE STUDY OF DUSHTA VRANA (INFECTED WOUND) TREATED WITH JATYADI TAILA

ABSTRACT
Wounds are one of the serious issues health care professionals are facing today. Resistant to antibiotics and other medications have resulted to be a cause for a wound to get infected. Also in today’s busy life schedule one does not care of his minor injuries which eventually converts into a major hazard. Medical Science has developed a lot and definitely has saved lives of millions of people but this development does not seem to be helpful for the poor people who are not able to afford the expenses of such costly treatment. So unnecessary use of antibiotics (drug abuse) is a serious issue of prime concern. Today the world is moving back towards Ayurveda for their health related problems. In Ayurveda many formulations are present which are advocated to treat Dushta Vrana (infected wound) and many of them are being practiced today. Jatyadi Tail is one of these formulations popular for treating all types of wound. A case report of 80 year – old person, who presented with complaints of an open wound on the dorsal aspect of his left hand (from dorsum of palm to the elbow) associated with pain, discharge, slough, bad odour, edema, discoloration of the skin and with a history of one month has been discussed here.
