EFFECT OF 3,4-METHYLENEDIOXYMETHAMPHETAMINE ON MALE FERTILITY HORMONE AMONG SUDANESE YOUTH USERS IN KHARTOUM STATE

ABSTRACT
Background: Methamphetamine (Kharsha) stimulates the central nervous system and affects the body tissues and neurotransmitters like dopamine. That affected on male fertility hormones. The study aims to assess the effect of methamphetamine on the male fertility hormones FSH, LH, and Testosterone hormones level. Methods: Cross-sectional case-control study, carry out in Khartoum state in Sudanese youth Chronic Addiction to methamphetamine. Total of study group 100 participants, 70 case study and 30 as a control group, blood samples were collected measured for FSH, LH and testosterone hormones by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays Principle in the antigen-antibody reaction. Results: Decrease the level of FSH (3.39±1.45) P-value=0.001 and testosterone (3.36±2.65) P-value=0.035 within normal range among case study, and increase LH (11.94±4.60) P-value=0.001 comparing with the control group. Conclusion: The study concludes that the chronic addiction of methamphetamine may cause variable effects on male fertility hormone levels, it may lead to infertility.
