A STUDY ON DOCTOR’S PERSPECTIVE ON PCPNDT ACT

ABSTRACT
Background: Pcpndt act (pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic technique) act is an act of the paraliament of India enacted to stop female foectidies and arrest the declining sex ratio in india. Methods: Cross sectional study conducted from Oct.2018 to Nov. 2018 on all obstetricians and radiologist in Bikaner. Results: The various problems faced by doctors because of the PCPNDT Act were: excessive clerical work (100.00%), social difficulties (44.19%), administrative difficulties (30.23%) and excessive police interference (18.60%). 69.77 % of the doctors feel that the strict implementation of PCPNDT Act will improve the gender ratio. 53.49 % of the doctors feel that the PCTS tracker help in better implementation of PCPNDT Act. Conclusion: Doctors were in favor of the PCPNDT Act but felt Punishment should be according to severity of offence.
