ABSTRACT
Purpose - To know the efficacy of no flap technique of dacryocystorhinostomy followed by syringing with mitomycin C in patients with chronic dacryocystitis. Design - It is a Prospective, non-comparative, interventional case study. Material and methods - Flapless dacryocystorhinostomy was performed on 30 cases with chronic dacryocystitis according to the described technique followed by syringing on postoperative 5th day with mitomycin C. The patients were evaluated on day 2, 5th day, 15th day and 3 months postoperatively for patency of the ostium created and any other complications. Result - The ostium created was patent for 29 cases. None of the case developed any major intraoperative and postoperative complications. Conclusion - The success rate was 96.7% in patients with nasolacrimal duct obstruction. The result of this study indicate that equivalent results are achieved with or without use of flaps. The elimination of flaps shortens and simplifies the procedure.
