ABSTRACT
Artemether is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin, a natural product, and widely used in malaria therapy.
ART has an improved bioavailability compared to artemisinin and is therefore the most clinically used derivative.
In vivo, it is rapidly metabolized to dihydroartimisinin that also show anti-malaria properties. The proposed review
article summarized analytical method reported so far in the literature for measurement of Artemether. The various
methods like high-performance liquid-chromatography (HPLC), high-performance thin-layer chromatography
(HPTLC), polarography and liquid chromatography-mass spectrophotometry (LC-MS) have been used for
quantitative and qualitative analysis of Artemether in biological matrix, bulk, and its pharmaceutical dosage forms.
