CONCEPT OF GUNA ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT AYURVEDIC TEXTS - A LITERARY REVIEW

ABSTRACT
The word Guna refers to qualities or the properties. Which also resides in Dravya. By the Guna, Dravya gets identified. The Gunas are responsible for action of the drugs. These Guna are inseparable in condition. The Padarthas which are having some distinct characteristic are easily identified by Gunas. There are total 41 Gunas are mentioned in the Ayurvedic classics. Viz; Indriya Artha Guna are five, Gurvadi Gunas are twenty, Buddhi Prayatnadi are six, Paradi Gunas are ten. The present study is to elaborate such Gunas on the basis of classical references, their evolution, Panchabhautikatwa, and their effects on the body. Further scope of study is to evaluate such Gunas with modern parameters and their effects on the body as clinical evaluation.
