CONCEPT OF AAHAR IN RELATION TO MATRA (QUANTITY)

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a science which is meant for the well-being of the humanity. It serves the society and emphasizes always on natural ways of healing human body and minds through it’s various principles. Among those, one principle is of utmost importance in today’s world which is of Aahar (Food). Aahar provides us the basic nutrients we need to remain healthy and alive. But only consuming food never gurantees us that we will live healthy and disease free. Health definitely depends on Aahar but with various factors attatched to it like: matra (quantity), Guna (quality), Agni (digestive power) of an individual, kind of food etc. All these concepts have been explained in detail in our classical texts and should be utilized practically to see the wonders these changes and habits in context of eating food can make in our lives.
