ABSTRACT
In the traditional Siddha system of medicines herbal products, inorganic substances and animal products are used for the medicine preparations. Maavilingapattai Chooranam is one of the herbal preparation which mentioned in the classical Siddha literature Sirorathina Vaidhiya Booshanam and used to treat the clinical condition like jaundice. The present study was focused to standardize the Siddha herbal preparation “Maavilingapattai Chooranam” by using various instrumental analysis like SEM, ICPMS and XRD. Result of SEM analysis shows the presence of micro particles which enhance the bio availability and better absorption of the drug (MPC). ICPMS result reveals the heavy metals like Hg, As, Cd, Pb were below detectable level which ensures the safety of the drug (MPC). The major diffraction peaks are identified by XRD analysis. XRD pattern of the drug MPC shows good crystalline nature. These findings will help for future clinical studies in MPC.
