ABSTRACT
A number of pyrimidine derivatives and chalconyl pyrimidines were synthesized. Their structures were elucidated by physical measurements such as IR, 1H-NMR and MS, as well as by microanalysis of the elements. They were tested for their cytotoxicity against three cell lines such human liver carcinoma cell line (HEPG2), human breast adenocarcinoma cell line MCF7, and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line A549 and the results were encouraging for their activity on cell cycle arrest and apoptotic genes expression.
Keywords: Pyrimidine derivatives, Chalcones, Anticancer activity and apoptotic alterations.
