STUDY OF EFFICACY OF ANANDBHAIRAVI VATI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MUTRASHMARI WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO UROLITHIASIS” – A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is a life science and based on Vedas. Its main aim is eradication of the diseases by the principle of swasthasya swastha rakshanam aaturasya vikarprashmana[1]and Nidanparivarjana for maintenance of health of healthy individuals. Detailed about mutravahasansthan and mutraroga given in sushrutsamhita. Ayurveda considered Ashmari mainly as mutrashmari (urolithiasis), as shushruta describes the mechanism of stone formation as Asanshodhansheelshleshma[2] mixes with mutra and enter into bladder gives rise to mutrashmari as mutra enters the basti the same way kapha pitta and vayu enters basti by upsnehan nayaya[3] gives rise to mutrashmari. Mutrashmari is the disease of mutravahastrotasa and considered as one of the Ashthamahagada.Sushrut has advised several Ghruta, Kshara, kashaya, and kshira preparation.[4] In Bruhatnighanturatnakar in Ashmari karma vipakadhya gives description of Anandbhairavivati[5] which helps in hanan of ashmari in 7 days. Among all the urinary problems described in Ayurvedic text, there is one variety. where both the medicinal and the surgical treatments are advised and agreed upon all the. Acharyas and this entity is the Mutrashmari. Now a day‟s various modern treatment modalities and operative procedures are available but this are expensive for general peoples like PCNL (Percutaneousnephro lithotomy), ESWL (extra corporal shock wave lithotripsy) cystolithotomy ,ureterolithotomy are available In modern science surgical management.[6] is the choice for treatment but it has many post-operative complications. All the modern procedures available they can remove the formed stone but do not cut down the samprapti. There are many methods which work on urinary calculi, but unfortunately none of these methods is the final solution for the problem. So by Looking into the above problem for the people of rural and arban era it has been decided to work on Anandbhairavi Vati which helpful in removing of calculus in 7 days is advocated by Bruhatnighantu Ratnakar.
