AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF GRAHANI DOSHA- A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
In Ayurveda, grahani dosha is one amongst the mahagada. The organ grahani is the the seat of jataragni, when agni is not proper the food will not be digested properly and this undigested food gets fermented and acts like a poison in the body. It is called as ama. Ama utpatti leads to grahani dosha.[1] Agnimandhya is important factor in the samprapthi of the disease grahani dosha. Hence it should be mainly treated for agnivardhana by drugs with deepana and pachana qualities. In this study a female patient aged about 10 years complains of shiro ruk, chardi immediately after intake of food along with association of arochaka, avipaka and udara shoola2 in empty stomach and diagnosed as Grahani dosha was reported in panchakarma OPD, SDM ayurveda Hospital, Udupi. The condition was well managed with ayurvedic medicines,in short time effectively. The patient was recovered within 2 weeks of oral medications and the USG is expressive as normal.
