P-TOLUENESULFONIC ACID (P-TSA) CATALYZED EFFICIENT SYNTHESIS OF BENZIMIDAZOLES AND IMIDAZOLINES UNDER THERMAL CONDITION

ABSTRACT

Synthesis of some important and functionalized benzimidazoles and imidazolines from aromatic aldehydes and ophenylenediamine or ethylenediamine using catalytic p-TSA under neat thermal condition is reported. The method is simple, efficient and the products are obtained in excellent yield in very short durations.
